Do It Yourself Centerpieces!

What a cool idea for a centerpiece!

You will need:

High-Melt Paraffin Wax (IGI 1260)
Party Balloons
Double Boiler
Cookie Sheet

1. Fill a balloon with tepid water.
2. Melt your wax. Optimum working temperature for this project is 180 degrees Fahrenheit. Try to maintain this temperature for your wax while working by keeping it on a double boiler.
3. Slowly dip your balloon into the wax to just below the water level in the balloon. Warning: Do not dip the balloon into the wax past the water level. This could cause the balloon to pop.
4. Hold the balloon in the wax for a few seconds, and then slowly lift it out of the wax. Dip the balloon a few more times, allowing some time between dips to let the wax cool.
5. While it is still quite warm, carefully set the balloon down onto a piece of paper or a cookie sheet, making sure it is level. This will create a flat bottom for the luminary.
6. Dip your balloon a few more times until it is the desired thickness. A good target thickness is 1/4 to 1/2 of an inch.
7. Set the balloon on the paper or cookie sheet again and let it cool.
8. When the wax is completely cooled, hold the balloon over a sink or bucket, facing away from you. Carefully pop the balloon with a skewer or knife and let the water drain out. Throw away the balloon shards.
9. To level the top of the luminary, heat a cookie sheet on the stove and place the luminary top-down onto the hot sheet and carefully melt the edges until it is level.
10. Place a tea light or votive inside the luminary and burn on a candle holder in a dark area.

To add some color to your centerpiece, just add a little color dye to the melted wax!

10 Ways to Reuse Tea Bags & Coffee Grounds

10 Things to do with Old Coffee Grounds & Tea Bags

Remove cooking odors:
Both coffee grounds and tea bags are excellent deodorizers and can work wonders on your hands after chopping stinky foods like garlic, onions and fish.

Clean your floors:
Looking for an all-natural way to keep wood floors and furniture shiny and clean? Look no further than your morning cup of tea!

Due to its tannin content, twice-brewed tea is perfect for adding extra luster to your wooden decor on the cheap. As an added bonus, you’ll also ditch the cleaning product smell and still get results you’ll love.

Keep pests away from your garden:
Noticing ants, slugs and other pests hanging around your garden? Sprinkle coffee grounds around problem areas to keep pests at bay.

Clean your pots & pans:
For squeaky clean pots and pans without the elbow grease, rub spent coffee grounds onto dirty cookware using a scouring pad. The added abrasion will help to remove stuck-on messes without harsh chemical cleaners.

Add to houseplants:
Both coffee grounds and tea bags have loads of nutrients that help houseplants thrive. Due to high acidic content, coffee grounds are perfect fertilizer for acid-loving plants such as tomatoes, carrots, roses, rhododendrons and azaleas. The antibacterial content of tea bags helps to gently clean while wafting away odors and perking up your skin – making these common kitchen leftovers perfect for your next mani-pedi party.
Keep your fridge fresh & clean:

Skip buying baking soda for deodorizing your fridge, and use a small container filled with coffee grounds instead!

You already know a splash of coffee can stain light-colored clothes. But have you ever thought of using your morning cup to create a homemade dye?

Clean your face:
Both coffee and tea are loaded with beneficial properties that sooth irritated skin and brighten a dull, tired winter complexion.

Shine your shoes:
We’ve heard of using citrus scraps and even banana peels to shine your shoes. But what about the leftovers from your morning cup?

Method of Preparation
Place the Ciabatta cubes on a sheet tray and lightly dry them out in a 350°F degree oven for about 5 minutes. Fire-roast the yellow and red pepper on the grill or gas stove until their skin is black and charred. Place charred peppers in a covered bowl and allow them to cool for 5 minutes. When the peppers are cool, peel off their skin, but don’t wash the peppers as that will wash off the great flavor. Cut the peppers into square pieces and slice the basil into thin strips.

Whisk together the lemon juice, Grapeseed Oil, and Fra Diavolo to create the dressing. Toss all the ingredients together in a large bowl with the dressing and serve.

Club Quesadillas

Club Quesadilla

1/4 cup onion, chopped
1/4 cup bell pepper, chopped
2 teaspoons fat free ranch dressing
1/8 teaspoon hot sauce
1/2 ounce Avocado, mashed ( about 1 tbsp.)
1 dash each chili powder, ground cumin, and garlic powder
1 medium-large high-fiber flour tortilla ( with 110 calories or less, like the kind by La Tortilla Factory)
1/4 cup fat-free cheddar cheese, shredded
2 ounces chicken breasts, cooked and chopped
2 slices turkey bacon, cooked crisp
nonfat sour cream, salsa

Bring a large skillet sprayed with nonstick spray to medium-high heat. Cook and stir onion and pepper until softened, 3 – 5 minutes. Remove from skillet and set aside.
In a small bowl, mix ranch dressing with hot sauce. In another small bowl, mix avocado with chili powder, ground cumin, and garlic powder.
Lay tortilla flat and spread avocado mixture on one half of the upward-facing side. Evenly top avocado with 2 tablespoons cheese, followed by the chicken, bacon, and cooked veggies. Top with ranch mixture and remaining 2 tablespoons cheese.
If needed, clean skillet. Re-spray skillet and return to medium-high heat. Place the half-loaded tortilla flat in the skillet and cook for 2 minutes. Fold the bare half of the tortilla over the filling with a spatula and press down lightly to seal. Carefully flip and cook until crispy, about 3 minutes.
Slice into wedges, and if you like, serve or top with sour cream and salsa!

How to become successful as a work-at-home Mom or Dad

How to become successful as a work-at-home Mom or Dad

First tip: Find a company where you are passionate about the products. It is far easier (and far more convincing) to shout from the rooftops about something you believe in than something you sell just because you were able to sign up for free. Do you BELIEVE in your product? Do you feel you are able to help people make educated decisions about product selection? I see so many people jumping from company to company to company lately. Why? Because they expect to make thousands of dollars overnight! Pick a company and stay with it. Pennies are not going to fall from the heavens overnight. It will take a lot of blood, sweat and tears to be successful with any company you choose to represent. People will not know you ARE a representative of that company if you do not TELL them. As amazing as we all are, very few folks are mind readers. Don’t be afraid to toot your own horn!

Second tip: I see a lot of folks building FaceBook fan pages. I know you want customers. Who doesn’t? Let’s face it… if you didn’t want them, what the heck are you doing in sales? How about devoting one week to advertising your fan page instead of your company site? The reason I am suggesting this is simple. The fan page gives you the opportunity to build a relationship with people and help them get to know YOU. What’s the one thing that makes you unique in a company of possibly thousands of consultants/distributors? One word… YOU! In a sales environment, customers want to KNOW the person they are buying from. They want to know you are not just there for the money, but will be there for them if they have questions or an issue. The after-sale support is just as important, if not more so, than the actual sale. If you develop a relationship with your customers, they will come back to you. What happens if that relationship is not there? They won’t trust you and they will go to someone else. And if they develop a bond with that person, guess what? You blew it! You got ONE sale from that customer and the other person has a loyal customer who will go back to that representative every time they need to purchase product.

I worked retail in the cellular industry for three years. It was grueling hours and a lot of bureaucratic red tape. Why did I stay as long as I did? Because I had customers who weren’t JUST customers, they were my friends too. They would wait for sometimes up to two hours for ME to become available. They could have gone with the next available sales representative, but they didn’t. They liked and trusted ME and knew I wouldn’t sell them something if it wasn’t going to fit their needs and lifestyle. Because of these amazing people, I made serious money. I have been out of that company for over two years but I am still friends with my former co-workers who tell me on a regular basis that my customers STILL ask about me. You can’t BUY that kind of loyalty! HAVE FUN! Don’t be afraid to be silly with your customers!

Third tip: Think outside the box. What are online vendor parties? A great and inexpensive way to get your company and products in front of people you may never have met otherwise! All the vendors help advertise the party to get as many people in the chat room as possible. Rather than lugging your show kit around to home shows, craft fairs and vendor events and sitting for sometimes as long as 8 hours a day, you can party in your PJs right at your very own computer! Each vendor is given a time slot in which they talk about their goods. They can refer customers to their FaceBook fan pages and company websites. We play games and do drawings just like a home show.

So you may be asking who the heck is Patty Graham to tell me how to be successful. Here’s my background: I have been in direct sales for 20 years. I have also been a real estate agent, an insurance agent, and a residential property manager. I worked in the non-profit field for seven years, working on campaign finance reform and pollution studies. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, which has helped me run several very successful businesses throughout the years (Patty’s Candy Shop, Patty’s Online Party Place, and Liberty Lady Designs), as well as representing: Avon (3 times), Tupperware (2 times), PartyLite, SoyLicious, Stuff-N- Snuggle, Scentsy (when they were still We Make Perfect Scents), Fuller Brush, and many more. As a Fuller Brush distributor, I was the only person to become a Director in less than one year’s time in the company history (up to that point in time) and had over 200 distributors in my downline all over the United States in less than six months. This was before Mark Zuckerberg even thought of FaceBook!

With each new company, I picked up more tips and ideas on what works and what doesn’t. I learned the hard way that you have to be passionate about your products! Trust me, I practice what I preach. I have been using these strategies for my companies and it does work! Take a chance and keep an open mind.

Does your washer eat your socks too?

Does your washer eat your socks too? Here’s a cool idea for the survivors….

Making use of old pieces of clothes is a tricky job, even for DIY practitioners. There is a limit on how many teddy bears and stuffed little Santas you can fashion. In the often cases you ended up with a bunch of mis-matched socks, you could make one cute snake. To manufacture this creative and colorful stuffed reptile doll, you must follow the instructions below:

• get about 10 clean socks (for a decent size snake, but you can work with whatever size you want);
• thread and needle;
• a pair of scissors;
• a 5-inch piece of red ribbon;
• buttons;
• stuffing (from/for pillows);
• sewing machine;

The first thing to do is choosing the socks which have almost the same width. Group them into different size stacks if the width varies. Check the link below for all instructions…
