I just wanted to give you an update. I’m sure you’re wondering where I have been and why I haven’t been posting to this blog as much. I have been having some issues with old injuries flaring up. I have a bad knee and shoulder.
I injured the knee back in ’08 when we were moving back to my hometown. We were packing a U-Haul and I was carrying more than I should have and managed to jam my knee into a hitchplate on the truck. Basically, the hitchplate went up underneath my knee cap. Spent about 2 months on crutches and lots of physical therapy.
The shoulder was a case of trying to do too much at once. (Say what??? Patty trying to do too much…. Nooooo!) After I tossed the abusive second husband to the curb, I got my hands on a weightlifting machine. You know, one of those that works on a pulley system with weights. Well, I was doing some overhead exercises for my arms and put too much weight on. Yep. I jacked up my shoulder. This happened in the spring of 2010.
So I have been to the doctor for these issues and she has me doing physical therapy three times a week for four weeks. I’m two weeks in. My shoulder seems like it’s improving in that I don’t have as much constant pain as before and my range of motion has improved. My knee, on the other hand, hurts worse than before.
I go back to the doctor on June 13th for her to decide if I have enough improvement to continue with physical therapy or whether it’s time to refer me to an orthopedic doctor. I’m not exactly enjoying the idea of going to see Dr. K. again for the knee. He told me when it happened in ’08 that I would have issues with it for the rest of my life. Yay!!!! (Not!)
So between my doctor’s appointments, physical therapy 3 times a week and all the kids’ appointments, I have been running more than I have in a very long time.
My goal for this week is to get back into a rhythm of posting daily, alternating between recipes, exercises, DIYs, healthy living tips and other goodies. Did I mention that the kids are now on summer vacation? *Sigh* It’s going to be a case of getting my ADHD under control and start scheduling my blogging time better than I have the last few weeks.
